Guitar Hero Skin A New Design

RedOctane first made an impact upon the gaming universe by selling cushier dance platform pads for Bemani's multiplayer video games; the Dance Dance Revolution series. Soon they made the decision to partner with Harmonix to release the popular beat-matching game Guitar Hero in 2002, and were entering a market of such games then controlled by Bemani. By bringing a brand-new gaming dynamic to the competing company's less-popular Guitar Freaks, it wasn't long before RedOctane and Harmonix's Guitar Hero worked it's way into the video gaming spotlight of that year and the successful alliance, which respectively, now is part of Activison and MTV, dominated the rhythm video games genre.

Like the dance pads which preceded it, the Guitar Hero controller itself is, viscerally, a more profound experience than the original which inspired them. With its catchy mix of enjoyable riffs and classic rock foot-stompers, the music that one might produce through this game (a prerecorded track, although the most recent version will allow you to develop comparisons of your own) was a sheer delight to play and changed its players into virtual rock masters.

It's even enjoyable just holding the controller. One usually plays Guitar Hero in an upright position, and the strap attaches the guitar to you at or near your waistline - higher perhaps if you are very tall. The buttons for the frets are located on the left hand side and are easily reachable by your fingers.

The game became massively popular at parties because of the game's contact and the physical nature of the controllers. Many karaoke bars have replaced their previous equipment with the game. It has become accepted as a game to be played at social occasions. As a result, many players buy Guitar Hero skins so that they can personalize their controllers and make them look they way they want the controllers to look.

Similar to the buying of rockband skins, which as recently gained popularity as a personalizing agent for that popular game, the Guitar Hero skin is fast becoming a staple at parties, with different players bringing their unique, sometimes custom-made, guitar hero skins to use while playing.

Purchasing a skin for guitar hero controllers has turned into a means of positively influencing the viscerally stimulating game environment that Guitar Hero already produces. Also, customizing the guitar hero controller with the skin in question may breathe new life into the game's social aspect.
