OC Interior Design: A New Trend in Vacations - the Staycation

by Vickie Daeley

Why travel anywhere else if you have the good fortune to reside in Orange County, California? With the fabulous ocean and mountain vistas, the unbeatable weather and the fantastic surroundings, California is the place to enjoy your vacation at home.

With a resort-like atmosphere, Southern California is home to some of the luckiest people in the world. Everything you could want is right at your fingertips.

Instead of vacationing elsewhere this year, why not put the money into making your home into a luxurious getaway, complete with a spa-like atmosphere?

The hassle of flying now or even driving with the high prices of gas makes staying at home an even better option. Consider an elegant evening in, catered by one of the excellent caterers available in Orange County. Or treat yourself, in home, to a massage or facial — these experts are only a phone call away. And don't forget to check out your local theaters, concerts, plays and even the local library. Spending your vacation at home is a possibility that should definitely be considered!

Instead of rushing around, trying to see everything possible in your precious one or two weeks of vacation, why not just stay home? Enjoy your relationships … your family, your friends. Take your time, and slow down a bit.

We long to be with our children, friends and family members and while it would be nice to take everyone with you on vacation, it seems like it might be wiser (and chances are even more fun) just to stay in your own home, relaxing in your own "5 Star Retreat"! What a great idea!

Do you really want to spend your "after vacation time" rushing around catching up on laundry, restocking the refrigerator and trying to merge back into the routine of work? What if you didn't have to?

For your next vacation, start planning now, so that your home will be ready for your staycation. Redecorate those living areas of your home. Turn that master bath into a spa experience. Seek the help of a professional interior designer for creative ideas.

The sky's the limit. Use your imagination. What would you really like to do if you could? Think it through … consider making your home your vacation site.
